Wastewater

Walton County, GA – Loganville East Business Center
The owner of the existing Loganville East Business Center, a commercial/retail center to the east of Atlanta, was confronted with a failed onsite wastewater treatment and disposal system. Untreated wastewater was found in a nearby ditch, triggering pressure from the local authorities to correct the issue at hand or be faced with closing and vacating the development. SmartWater Solutions was contracted in 2006 to produce not only a successful solution but also one in an expeditious fashion given the circumstance. We provided a successful yet cost effective solution with a new system utilizing the old system’s components whenever possible, making the system more affordable. The system has performed satisfactorily to this day without any further environmental hazard.

Henry County, GA – BP Gas/Convenience Store
SmartWater Solutions was heavily involved in the Henry County building boom in the late 1990s. Land came at a premium, especially that with frontage on major thoroughfares. Placing a fuel station & convenience store application on a small tract of land on the corner of a busy intersection can prove to be a challenge. With sewer availability, being able to squeeze an onsite wastewater system can be next to impossible. We were able to place a system in creative fashion using then recently approved proprietary technology so that the development could be built to plan without any footprint restrictions.

Douglas County, GA – Winston Baseball Complex Expansion
Douglas County was faced with several park and recreation projects in 2007. Near Douglasville, The Winston Complex expansion included multiple softball fields, a concession structure, and large parking areas. SmartWater Solutions encountered many challenges on the project. Onsite Wastewater was the solution recommended as it was not possible to connect to the nearest sewer on nearby U.S. Highway 78. The next challenges were (1) to plan for the volatile flow pattern for such an application and (2) how to dispose into a site with very poor soils. SmartWater Solutions designed a system with ample storage capacity and almost 30,000 feet of drip irrigation tubing in the disposal field. The system was installed in 2008 and has performed successfully since.

Calhoun and Cleburne Counties, AL – The Falls of Highland Lakes, Phases I&II
A large multiphase subdivision located in east Alabama, The Falls of Highland Lakes contracted with SmartWater Solutions in 2003 to perform a cost analysis for the wastewater infrastructure options on the first phase of the development. The three options were to connect to sewer, utilizing a single community system at each lot, or employing a single community system on site to handle the collective sewage from the dwellings. The onsite community system was decidedly the most cost effective solution. SmartWater Solutions proceeded to the design phase with a collection, treatment, and a disposal system to be constructed on a heavily wooded site with rugged terrain... a challenging site. The satisfied developer proceeded to again contract with SmartWater Solutions in 2005 for the wastewater design on the second phase of the subdivision.
