ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTING

Environmental ConsultingGeological and other ground-based studies are the basis for all development. SmartWater Solutions' seasoned team of professionals provides practical solutions for environmental issues within the private and public sectors.

Recognized for excellent customer service and leading technical expertise, we specialize in:

Environmental Site Assessments

A Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) is designed to discover past or present activities or conditions which may represent a potential environmental risk. Should a Phase I reveal environmental risks, a Phase II investigation may be warranted. A Phase II usually involves collecting field samples of soil, sediment and/or groundwater.

Subsurface Investigations (Soil & Groundwater)

SWS Group has qualified personnel who have experience with a variety of options available to conduct soil and/or groundwater sampling. Whether it’s direct push technology using a probe to obtain in-situ soil and/or groundwater samples or auger drilling to collect laboratory samples and perform monitoring well installation, we can offer our clients the flexibility needed to minimize multiple mobilizations which helps maintain control over project costs.

Geologic and Hydrogeologic Site Characterization

Identification of the geologic and hydrogeologic conditions of a site are essential in determining preferential pathways, the direction, rate, movement and fate of groundwater and potential contaminants.

Groundwater Monitoring, Sampling & Analyses

Environmental ConsultingSWS Group has extensive knowledge in conducting the correct methodologies for groundwater monitoring, sampling and analyses which meet USEPA and/or state protocols. These protocols are very important to follow as regulators often look at the method of sample retrieval prior to reviewing the data. If the correct methods of sample collection, preservation and chain-of-custody procedures are not followed, regulators often will not accept the data resulting in costly resampling events.

Underground Storage Tanks

SWS Group has personnel highly knowledgeable of county, state and federal regulations governing UST management and have overseen, sampled and prepared closure submittals for hundreds of Underground Storage Tanks (USTs) in numerous states. We also have extensive experience in the preparation of UST systems investigation, site characterization and clean-up.

Landfill and/or Impoundment Monitoring & Closure

Many landfills and/or various types of surface impoundments require proper monitoring and/or closure protocol to comply with local, state and federal regulations. SWS Group has personnel experienced in preparation of municipal landfill and/or surface impoundment monitoring and closure plans. Our specialist will review your situation and advise you and your staff members on the course of action that will meet your objectives while keeping in mind project cost control.

Project Management

SWS Group has personnel with extensive experience in managing various types of projects from beginning to end meeting critical timelines while staying within budgetary restraints. Our team will also look for ways to save you time and money. If unexpected situations or costs do arise, we notify you immediately so that you are not met with unexpected surprises at the end of the project.

Regulatory Compliance, Liaison Assistance and Strategic Advice

Environmental ConsultingSWS Group offers direction and strategic advice in dealing with and properly notifying local, state and federal regulators. Many regulatory personnel have science and engineering backgrounds. Therefore, they are more comfortable dealing with qualified scientists and engineers with similar backgrounds. While reviewing and approving plans and field activities critical communication between our team members and key decision making regulators will influence the ultimate success of your project objectives. The importance of carefully crafted communication should never be underestimated.

Report Preparation and Submittal

When necessary and/or required by regulatory bodies, SWS Group will follow-up with a written report detailing project field activities, protocols adhered to, laboratory data reduction, review and interpretation. Recommendations, when appropriate will be made, often in a separate cover letter for client approval prior to submittal to any regulatory authority.

Corrective Actions & Site Remediation

When site conditions warrant, corrective actions will be recommended but will not be implemented until receiving client and/or regulatory approval. Often these corrective actions can be done in the field immediately upon discovery of the condition. In other cases work plans and further corrective actions may be necessary to satisfy the regulatory authority. These corrective action plans (CAPS) are then prepared and submitted to the state or federal regulatory authority for review and approval prior to moving forward.
